Calculate Pool Capacity
How Many gallons does the pool or spa hold? Only four (4) simple steps are needed to calculate this for a pool or spa.
1. Calculate the pool or spa surface area in square feet.
2. Calculate the average depht 9A.D.) of the pool or spa.
3. Calculate cubic feet.
4. Convert to gallons by multiplying by 7.48 (7.48 gallons in 1 cubic foot of water).
Each calculation below is based on the following example: 20′ x 40′ rectangular pool, 3ft to 7ft deep.
1. Calculate surface area
20ft X 40ft=800 sqft
2. Calculate average depth
(3ft + 7ft)/2=5ft
3. Calculate cubic foot
800 sqft X 7.48 gallons/cubic ft=29,920 gallons
